Who is Bruce Langford?
Mindfulness Expert and Corporate Trainer & Consultant
My life has found momentum through my passion for helping others reach theirs. I’m dedicated to bringing the concept of mindfulness to the mainstream world to improve the lives of three million people.
At one time I was struggling with anxiety, wondering why I was here. Music helped me survive and as a result, I became a professional musician and then a music teacher. I loved teaching music but was shocked by the number of students who were bullied and whose abuse was systematically swept under the carpet.
I believed I could make a positive impact in the area of bullying prevention and so in 2003, I transitioned from teaching at a school to become a presenter, keynote speaker, and trainer. I created interactive programs on the topics of Anti-Bullying, Mindfulness, and Respect and moved into the world of entrepreneurship.
I’ve now presented over 1,840 live presentations and created content for dozens of training programs. This desire to help others has led me to teach Mindfulness in the corporate sector so that companies like yours can celebrate having employee teams who love their work and enjoy supporting each other.
You can listen to me share thoughts and insight on mindfulness with CEOs, Entrepreneurs and Authors on my Mindfulness Mode Podcast.
How did mindfulness become my expertise?
It all started with finding my voice. Throughout my life, it became my mission to help others find theirs. Mindfulness has been the medium.
When I say I “found” my voice, I mean it quite literally. As a teenager, my voice didn’t drop down when everybody else’s did. I had this sort of “squeaky’ high-voice that made me totally self-conscious, as you could probably imagine. This went on well into college. I was terrified of doing presentations and found myself shutting down.
I finally sought help and went to work with a therapist. She revealed to me that the reason my voice never dropped down was due to anxiety and stress I experienced at a younger age.
This was when I first discovered mindfulness, one of the most powerful and effective tools to reduce stress and anxiety. It also empowered me to become more mindful about the truth of who I was.
In working together, we were able to uncover my “real” voice, which is actually quite low. No more “squeaky.” I couldn’t believe it! It sounded so strange at first, but I grew into it.
This was a new beginning for me where I was able to rewrite all of those “I could never….” stories I had created about myself.
In the corporate world, giving voice to leadership, to team members, to the company’s brand identity — this is the root to shifting the culture, empowering its people, and, therefore, increasing productivity and profitability. Mindfulness is the transformational key.
After college, I started my career as an educator, where I spent 16 years and saw first-hand the benefits of mindfulness in the workplace and the classroom. I went on to present 1,840 live presentations and create content for dozens of mindfulness-based anti-bullying training programs, a cause near and dear to my heart.
I’ve helped hundreds of students and adults work through their own bullying situations by using mindfulness techniques to help them regain their confidence and happiness.
I’ve gone on to work as a mindfulness coach to busy entrepreneurs and executives in search of more groundedness and happiness in their lives.
I’ve interviewed over 300 experts on my Mindfulness Mode Podcast, where I came to realize how much these skills are needed in the corporate world. I now offer my expertise in the form of corporate consulting and custom training programs that create cultural shifts and increase productivity and profitability.
Nearly 15 years of entrepreneurship and experience as a commercial property investor and landlord in conjunction with my time as an educator and anti-bullying facilitator has given me a unique perspective and a peek inside the inner-workings of many different businesses and industries. At the core of it all has been my own mindfulness practice and teachings.
It’s an honor and privilege to now bring these teachings to the corporate world where we can shift culture, increase happiness, and improve commerce.
